TARGETED TRAFFIC: PART 1
There must be a million tutorials online about generating traffic. Ok, not a million, but a lot. I have
What I've learned is that lots of traffic costs lots of money. Money in terms of time spent getting it and in terms of the hosting bill. Traffic is BAD. Unless it's targeted traffic.
TARGETED TRAFFIC: PART 2
Keyword research. If you're a subscriber to my ElectronicLight newsletter or a Search Engine Yearbook reader, you'll know how I always hammer on keyword research. I hammer on it because it works. It's the cornerstone of generating targeted web site traffic For more on the "how-to's" of keyword research, get a copy of the Search Engine Yearbook. It shows you not only exactly how to do keyword research, but also how to optimize your pages for those winning keywords. You can't target your customers if you're guessing what they are entering in the search box. You have to KNOW which words they use.
TARGETED TRAFFIC: PART 3
Who do you target if your web site is about everything? I don't know. It amazes me that people will build sites about music and try to sell ink cartridges from those same sites! What are they thinking? Are they thinking at all? Why have a photo of wildlife when you're selling marketing services? It's beyond me. FOCUS your web site. If you're going to sell ink cartridges, build a web site that describes the different types, create an illustrated tutorial on changing cartridges, explain the differences between jet printers and laser printers etc. Be the number one ink cartridge web site on the web.
TARGETED TRAFFIC: PART 4
Let's face it, the search engine optimization (SEO) industry has become saturated. If you're not an expert on search engines, you need to hire one. The high level of competition leaves very little room for novices. If you're interested in becoming a power-player in the search engine game, then here's the good news: It's NOT rocket science. Anyone can get a good search engine rankings and attract lots of targeted traffic. But there's another side to the coin: You have to be willing to invest some time. I've compressed 5 years worth of experience into my Search Engine Yearbook. If you're serious about taking on the search engines, it'll give you a massive head start. The book reveals no magic formulas though. What it does give you is honest advice from people who make their living off search engines. Take a look at the Table of Contents here.
