The story so far...

About 2 years ago I created the www.ElectronicLight.com web
site. I wanted to see for myself if affiliate programs can
really make money, so I built a site to resell all kinds of
lamps and lighting.
It worked pretty well. Building the site took me about 2 weeks
and it made about $400 per month for the next 12 months - with
only about an hour per week maintenance.
Then it started to slump. At one stage it was only making about
$100 per month. That was partly due to neglect on my part, but
also to the fact that the lamp suppliers for whom I was finding
buyers made life difficult. One guy would change his site
structure almost every month, causing broken links on the sites
of all his affiliates. Another offered only 3% commission per
sale etc.
So I decided to drop all the suppliers and find just one really
good supplier that would:
1. pay decent commissions,
2. pay it monthly,
3. allow me to link to any individual product rather than just
the homepage and
4. be available via email or phone to answer my questions and
listen to my suggestions.
I found LampsPlus. I worked on the site for a couple of days and
got it back to $300 per month, but LampsPlus just didn't give me
what I needed.
Then, one spring day...

(it really is spring down here in the southern hemisphere)
A smallish lamp distributor contacts me and asks me how much
LampsPlus is paying me. He doubles it. He also assures me that
they don't change the site often, that they send checks monthly,
he shows me how simple it is to link to any page on their site
and he changes their reporting system to suit me!
Wow.
The bottom line
---------------
Guess who's lamps I'll be selling.
This guy saw my site ranked highly in the search results for
keywords he wanted to target, visited the site, spent enough
time there to realize I'm a reseller, decided he wanted me on
his team, asked me what I wanted and gave it to me.
We can all make more money if we:
1. decide what we want to achieve and
2. start taking real steps towards achieving it.
